Clinical Documentation Improvement
Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is a process typically used in hospitals which employs specialists who provide feedback to physicians after review of clinical documents. The feedback is designed to fill gaps in documentation with the help of query form, which includes all required clinical indicators of the condition treated, specificity of coding, quality measures and overall care management of a patient.
CDI program is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary effort which includes the medical staff, clinical documentation specialists, inpatient coders, and CDI physician advisors.
